Bhrigu lake :

Bhrigu Lake or Brighu Lake is a lake located at an elevation of around 4,300 metres (14,100 ft) in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. It is located to the east of Rohtang Pass and is around 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from Gulaba village. It can be reached by trekking  from the Vashishth temple. Vashishth temple is famous for its hot water spring. It is close to the town of Manali. Actually there is no settlement in Gulaba and is an area of the Pir Panjal mountain range.

Day 1 Bhrigu lake; Arrive in Manali. Drive to Gulaba (22Kms). Trek to Gulaba Campsite:

Reach Main Govt. Bus Stand in Manali . First of all we drive to Gulaba which would take close to one hour. Probably the road is busy on week days because the heavy croud. A short trek of about half an hour brings us to our campsite for the day.Therefore overnight stay in tents.

Day 2 Bhrigu lake : Trek from Gulaba to Rola Kholi (12,500 feet approx.), – 7 km, 4 to 5 hour trek:

Hike in contrast of the forest and meadows with Manali and Solang Valley in the background. Therefore some of the famous peaks in view are Mt. Hanuman Tibba and the Seven Sister peaks seated in Beas Kund Valley. Carry enough water in your bottle hence there are very limited/no source (depending on the season) of water before Kolang Nallah. After 3-4 hours of hike we will reach the Kolang Nallah. Whil in contrast there is a improvised wooden bridge on this Nallah for most of the months. After cross the bridge, Hence take almost another 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Rola Kholi, finally reach at our campsite for the day. Rola Kholi is almost covered by mountains on 3 sides which consequently defend it from harsh winds. Rola Kholi is an ideal campsite also because the water stream flows very close to the camping site.

Day 3 Bhrigu lake: Rola Kholi to Pandu Ropa (11,800 feet approx.) via Bhrigu Lake (14,000 feet approx.) – 14 km, 7 to 8 hour trek:

We start early in the morning as the trail today is seems like long and steep one.  As we trek to the lake ,the trail changes colour from green to brown and to white. The participants are requested to be extra careful today because the trail is through boulders and scree. As a result we reach the lake, the view is breath taking because of the frozen lake (frozen almost in all months). While you visit the lake during summer, you will find almost grass and tiny alpine flowers nearby the lake. After spending sometime in contrast of the lake, we head to Pandu Ropa. The walk through the rice fields is likewise a breath of fresh air. Finally reach at Pandu Ropa and similarly overnight stay in tents at Pandu Ropa.


Day 4 Bhrigu lake : Pandu Ropa to Vashisht (6800 feet) – 8 km, 4 hour trek:

Today we trek from Pandu Ropa to Vashisht. The downhill sections are quite steep and slippery . On your way back you can find trekkers who have started the trek from the other side. Their anxiety and enthusiasm will leave you feeling nostalgic. The trail is in between the apple farms. We will reach Vashisht, the hot sulphur water spring . Finally the trip ends here. If you wish to, take a dip in the spring. Hire an auto rickshaw or taxi from here to Manali which is approximately a few  kilometre away.
